Smith Machine Split Squat
The Smith machine split squat is a single-leg focused squat variation with the stability of a fixed bar path. Set up in a split stance under the bar and descend until your rear knee nearly touches the floor.
How to Perform
Set the bar on your upper traps and unrack in a split stance.
Position your front foot far enough forward that your knee stays behind your toes at the bottom.
Lower straight down until your rear knee is just off the ground.
Drive through the front foot to stand, keeping your torso upright.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Placing the front foot too far forward or too close, affecting knee angle.
Leaning the torso forward instead of staying tall.
Not going deep enough to achieve full range of motion.
