Resistance Band Pull-Apart
The band pull-apart is a rear delt and upper back exercise performed by stretching a resistance band apart at chest height. It builds posterior shoulder strength and is one of the best exercises for improving posture.
How to Perform
Hold a resistance band at chest height with arms extended and hands shoulder width apart.
Pull the band apart by squeezing your shoulder blades together until the band touches your chest.
Keep your arms straight with only a very slight bend in the elbows.
Return to the start position slowly, resisting the band pulling your hands back together.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Bending the elbows excessively, which turns the movement into a rowing motion.
Using a band that is too stiff, forcing you to cheat with body momentum.
Shrugging the shoulders up instead of pulling the band apart with the rear delts.
